At AHASTI, we offer expert-led first aid training in English, Punjabi, Hindi, or Cantonese to meet the diverse needs. Important Note: For certification purposes, participants will need an understanding of English or French , as certification exams and online components are available only in these languages. Programs Available: Basic (Emergency) First Aid with CPR Level C/AED and Recertification Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR Level C/AED and Recertification Standard Childcare First Aid with CPR Level B/AED and Recertification These programs adhere to the standards established by provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and integrates the latest protocols for first aid and CPR. You have the option to take these first aid courses in Calgary, or if these dates, times or locations are not convenient for you, you can request our Mobile Training Unit to deliver the training at your chosen venue. The Basic and Intermediate First Aid Courses align with the CSA Standard Z1210-17 for Workplace First Aid Training. The Standard Childcare First Aid meets Alberta requirements in designated childcare workplaces. All courses adhere to the Canadian Red Cross Program Standards. Prerequisites: This course will be taught by a Punjabi/Hindi/English-speaking or French/English instructors, so individuals who would benefit from both languages will find it an asset. Course Content: The Red Cross Preparing to respond The EMS system Check, Call, Care Airway emergencies Breathing and circulation emergencies First aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest Wound care Head, neck and spine injuries Bone, muscle and joint injuries Sudden Medical Emergencies Environmental illnesses Poisons (includes opioid poisoning) Includes any other content required by specific legislation. As of 2024, Red Cross Instructors now recertify each discipline individually before individual certification expiry dates. Prerequisites: Have a current Red Cross BLS, First Responder, Advanced First Aid or EMR Instructor certification. Have taught a minimum of three Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program courses during the three-year certification period. One course must have been taught in each discipline the Instructor is seeking recertification (course taught must be at the highest level of certification within each discipline; recertification and blended courses also qualify).
