The Canadian Red Cross has discontinued the separate Teaching Experience Supervisor (TES) certification course as part of changes to its Instructor Development Program.
What Has Changed?
Canadian Red Cross instructors who hold current instructor certification are now eligible to supervise Teaching Experiences within their certified disciplines, without obtaining additional TES certification.
What Has Not Changed?
Teaching Experience Supervisors continue to play an important role in mentoring, coaching and evaluating instructor candidates.
The Teaching Experience process and evaluation requirements remain in place.
Teaching Experiences at AHASTI
AHASTI continues to coordinate Teaching Experience placements, matching instructor candidates with suitable supervising instructors and scheduled courses.
Instructor candidates requiring a Teaching Experience should continue to arrange their placement through AHASTI.
Please note: The separate TES certification course is no longer offered or required.

Pre-requisite:
Hold a current Canadian Red Cross Instructor at the Discipline you're intended to become a Teach Experience Supervisor. First Aid/CPR Instructor, BLS Instructor, First Responder Instructor, AFA/EMR Instructor.
Certification:
Valid as long as a CRC Instructor certification is current.
After You Become a Certified Instructor
Becoming certified is only the first step. To teach Canadian Red Cross programs, you must either:

Become a Red Cross Training Partner, or
-
Teach under an existing Training Partner such as AHASTI
Instructor certification alone does not permit independent course delivery.
