This Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive course is designed for workers who may be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (Hâ‚‚S) in the workplace.
Hâ‚‚S, also known as sour gas, acid gas, stink damp, or sulphurated hydrogen, is a naturally occurring gas that can be extremely hazardous. It is colourless, heavier than air when pure, and highly toxic. While low concentrations may produce a rotten egg smell and cause eye or throat irritation, higher concentrations can quickly become life-threatening.
Through classroom instruction and practical exercises, participants learn how to:
Recognize the presence of Hâ‚‚S
Understand the health hazards associated with exposure
Use respiratory protective equipment correctly
Apply safe work practices in Hâ‚‚S environments
Respond effectively to an Hâ‚‚S release or emergency
Course Completion:
Passing grade on exam 70%
Attendance and full participation are mandatory.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate issued directly from Energy Safety Canada that is valid for three years
