
About the Course:
Emergency First Aid is a one-day course that covers life-threatening emergencies and the essential first aid skills required for low-hazard workplaces and everyday life. This program meets Alberta OHS and Canadian Red Cross requirements and is ideal for workers, volunteers, and community members who need a basic level of certification.

Prerequisites:
Full Course: none
Recertification: Proof of current Basic or Emergency First Aid certification by a CRC-recognized national training agency required. The CRC-recognized national training agencies include the Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Lifesaving Society, and the Canadian Ski Patrol.
Course Content:
• The Red Cross
• Responding to Emergencies
• Check, Call, Care
• Choking
• Circulation Emergencies
• CPR and AED
• Breathing Emergencies
• Wound Care
• Head, Neck, Spine, and Pelvis Injuries
Includes any other content required by the Provincial or Federal Authority Having
Jurisdiction.
Course Completion Criteria:
• Demonstrate a working competency in all required skills.
• Achieve a minimum score of 75% on a written, closed-book knowledge evaluation completed independently. This written evaluation is only available in English.
• Attend and actively participate in 100% of the course.
• Must adhere to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross.
