About the Course
Advance Your Career in Emergency Medical Response
AHASTI's EMR Bridging Pathway is for those who have completed alternate first responder training and wish to upgrade to an Alberta approved EMR program. Students who qualify for the EMR Bridging Pathway will have a reduced number of classroom dates and tuition. Students accepted in the EMR Bridging Pathway must ensure they are confident in all aspects of their previous training, as the EMR knowledge and skills will be built on that foundational knowledge.
Who is this pathway for?
This bridging opportunity is ideal for those with:
Current provincially recognized Advanced First Aid.
Current Occupational First Aid Level 3.
Current Canadian Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder certificate.
Emergency Medical Responder certificate from another non-Alberta provincially recognized institution.
This pathway ensures that students meet the competencies required by the Alberta College of Paramedics and are eligible to challenge the national EMR registry exam through the Canadian Organization of Paramedic Regulation (COPR), leading to provincial registration.
The AHASTI EMR Bridging Program is provincially approved and offers a dynamic, hands-on approach to emergency medical training, including:
200 hours of total instruction
ITLS Basic certification
Heart & Stroke BLS Provider certification
Psychological First Aid training
Real-world patient engagement experience
