The AHASTI Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program equips future practitioners to handle urgent medical and traumatic scenarios. This comprehensive program includes essential components like ITLS basic, BLS CPR, and Driving. Finish your entire EMR program in 12 weeks.

COST AND DURATION
Tuition: $2800

BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIAL
Through tuition fees, students will receive a digital version of the EMR textbook and workbook. They may also choose to purchase a hard copy of the textbook or workbook.
Students must also have a hard copy of the 9th edition ITLS textbook required for the program. Students are welcome to borrow from a friend, purchase new or used from elsewhere, or buy new from AHASTI.

Safety Goggles
One-way CPR mask (not plastic shield)
AHASTI has complete equipment kits available for purchase, or student can bring their own.
PREREQUISITE:
High School Courses
Math 10C or 20-1 or 20-2 (or equivalent)
Biology 30 (or equivalent)
English 30-1 or 30-2 (or equivalent)
Class 5 driver's license (GDL okay)
Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR level C/AED
COURSE EXPECTATIONS
100% attendance is mandatory; lateness will not be tolerated.
Respect for each other, the instructor, the facility, and the equipment.
Professionalism— Students are expected to demonstrate the same level of professionalism as would be expected of any EMS personnel.
All assignments, skills and exams must be completed on time and at a grade of 75% or higher on all components
Students must complete the licensing requirements with the Alberta College of Paramedics within 1 year of completing their EMR course. If not, the Alberta College of Paramedics may ask students to complete a refresher or full EMR program.
COMPLETION
Successfully demonstrate all skills
Min. 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
Attend and participate in 100% of the course
Completion of all components such as ITLS, BLS CPR, Patient Engagement, etc.
CERTIFICATION
3-year certification. All successful candidates wanting to work as an EMR in the province of Alberta must register with the governing body - the Alberta College of Paramedics
