About the Course

This recertification is for Instructors currently teaching CPR, Basic (Emergency)/Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, Childcare First Aid, or Marine Basic First Aid.

As of 2024, Red Cross Instructors now recertify each discipline individually before individual certification expiry dates.

Prerequisites:

  • Have a current Red Cross First Aid & CPR Instructor certification.

  • Have taught a minimum of three Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program courses

       during the three-year certification period.

  • One course must have been taught in each discipline the Instructor is seeking recertification (course taught must be at the highest level of certification within each discipline; recertification and blended courses also qualify).

Local legislators may set additional requirements. Please check the legislation in your area for further requirements.

Courses taught in combination (e.g., Standard First Aid and CPR C) do not count as separate courses for recertification prerequisites.

Certification:

Certifications are valid for 3 years from the certification date identified on the instructor certification.
