Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
The Common Safety Orientation program provides foundational workplace safety knowledge for workers entering Alberta's energy sector.
Topics include:
Hazard identification
Safe work practices
Emergency response
Incident reporting
Life Saving Rules
Workplace communication
Many employers require CSO as a baseline orientation before site access.
For Alberta worksites, Energy Safety Canada's Common Safety Orientation course is essential for new workers as it delivers safety messaging on safe work practices and hazard recognition and mitigation in the workplace. This course streamlines the training process by providing comprehensive workplace safety information, thus eliminating the necessity for repetitive general orientation sessions. Participants will be educated on the 10 Lifesaving Rules, emergency response protocols, and incident and near-miss reporting. The course is available in Calgary and Red Deer for your convenience.
Course Completion:
Upon achieving a passing grade on the exam with a minimum score of 80%.
Certification:
A Certificate of Completion does not expire will be issued.
