About the Course
AHASTI's Medical First Responder (MFR) program is a comprehensive course for people looking to work or volunteer in the area of first response as part of a fire rescue service, police service, industrial sectors, safety and security, and the many other professions that require the MFR skill set. AHASTI's MFR program will teach you the essential skills required to provide first-on-scene, basic emergency care to people before Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrive. You'll also learn how to support EMS after they arrive on the scene.
AHASTI's MFR programs provide three distinct credentials: AHASTI Medical First Responder (MFR) certification, the Canadian Red Cross Advanced First Aid certification and the International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Basic Provider certification.
Prerequisite
Full: 18 years of age and a current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR Level C/AED from a Canadian Approved Provider
Recert: A current Advanced First Aid with from a Canadian Approved Provider, current ITLS Basic Trauma Life Support Certification.
Course Content
This course includes all the components found in the Canadian Red Cross Advanced First Aid certification, the International Trauma Life Support Basic Provider Program criteria, and one day of AHS MFR Protocol review and practice.
Course Completion
100% attendance and participation
75% min. passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation
Adherence to the Fundamental Principles.
