About the Course
This course is the second step in the Instructor Development Pathway and will be completed prior to candidates attending the discipline-specific classroom component for Instructors. Course consists of an online and classroom component where candidates will learn the fundamentals of instruction and apply them under the guidance of an Instructor Trainer. The unique focus on application is designed to reduce the theory to practice gap and focuses on preparing candidates to support dynamic, learner-centered classroom environments.
• 18 years or older
• Valid participant certificate for the program you wish to teach
• Successfully complete a skills evaluation - (applicable to the course you intend to teach)

The online, self-paced component contains information on the fundamentals of instruction, such as how to prepare for a course, how to teach lessons, and the post-course tasks that must be completed once participants have left the classroom. It also guides Instructor candidates through the Teaching Experience process. The classroom component is focused on application of the skills learned from the online component.
Successfully complete the Fundamentals of Instruction – First Aid Programs online component.
Begin the classroom component of the course within 30 days from completing the Fundamentals of Instruction online component.
Attend and participate in 100% of the classroom-based course - this includes active, directed contributions at all scheduled sessions.
Successfully complete the in-class microteaching segments.
Upon successful completion of all components, candidate will receive recognition of completion in their online profile.
